18 Dec Renewing Tradition: A Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition by Professor Shih Yun-Wen and His Students
Mr. Shih Yun-Wen is one of the most renowned collectors of modern and contemporary Chinese calligraphy and painting in the world. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Ching Wan Society. His early inspiration in art was shaped by the selfless guidance of master artists during his student years. In recent years, he has devoted himself wholeheartedly to art education and the cultivation of new talent, viewing this as the “final mile” of his collecting journey.
For contemporary collectors, a key mission is determining how to leverage their vast, museum-quality collections to create cultural impact and give back to society through the arts—especially by empowering the next generation of artists.
This exhibition presents the culmination of Mr. Shih Yun-Wen’s recent efforts in art education.
The title of this exhibition, Renewing Tradition, reflects the concept of learning from the masters of the past while embracing contemporary innovation and transformation. The exhibition features recent works by Mr. Shih and six of his students, each piece exploring different themes with solid brushwork, innovative compositions, and a reinterpreted aesthetic of Chinese calligraphy and painting.
