Wei Chia-Ying (b.1994) has received numerous awards, including First Prize at the Cross-Strait Youth Exchange Exhibition and Special Excellence at the National Student Art Exhibition.

While her landscapes follow the lineage of the Ming dynasty Wu School master Wen Zhengming (Hengshan) with their verdant coloring, her foundations are deeply rooted in the rigorous precision of Song and Yuan painting. On her artistic journey, Wei has studied widely from the ancients, distilling and integrating their brushwork traditions. At the same time, the clarity and realism of her depictions of birds, flowers, and animals stem from her long-standing dedication to sketching from life—for instance, repeatedly visiting racetracks to closely observe the movement of horses, or carefully studying the seasonal ecology of flora to ensure natural authenticity. Classical technique, contemporary vision, and the sensibility of lived experience converge in Wei Chia-Ying’s work, giving rise to a fresh, distinctive style with strong personal character.
